The weekend

We had a great Saturday as a family. We went to Vasona Park for a company picnic. When we were getting in the car we promised a train ride and K asked if we could also have a horse ride as the last few weeks there has been a train ride near the horses. We said no horses, but in the end she had her first merry go round. She really enjoyed it and spent Sat evening talking about the neigh neighs going up and down. She was also quite fascinated by the geese and kept talking about the muck they were standing in. She also enjoyed the lake, which she initally thought was an ocean. In the evening we headed to a 1 year bday party for J and K loved going over and playing with all the toys and exploring his home. It is hard to believe K was that age.

On Friday evening we went back to school and were delighted to see a swing set and sandbox added to the backyard. K thought the swing was the best and is now starting to transition to school. We are dropping her with Grandma for a couple hours a day so she can get used to the area. Hopefully by the end of next week she will be going for a full day. It looks fantastic, but is quite a change and tough to think of K being away from the home.

T and I had a great weekend as we went to volleyball on Friday night with our friends. We were late due to the school visit, but enjoyed the game and a nice dinner. Sunday was our annual trip to Napa, which was superb. We had a beautiful lunch at Auberge du Soleil (it is beautiful there), followed by a fantastic tasting at Joseph Phelps and a wonderful tour and tasting at Vincent Arroyo. We got to see a lot of the crushing process, which was really really amazing. We even tried some of the yummy grapes. We finished with a nice dinner at Redd in Yountville.

Today K bumped her back when sliding off a chair and asked for a back rub. When I started to rub her she asked that her pajama top be removed for ultimate back rubbing enjoyement. She is very fascinated with backs. Yesterday I was grabbing a book and she kissed my back. As I was moving she asked to give me "one more" which is one of her favorite phrases and gave me another kiss. Back kisses are given to most dogs on the street and of course, MoCa.

I forgot to mention last weekend K saw her first seal in Half Moon Bay as he was swiming close to the shore. It was quite neat.
